Shiela's Sanctuary is a housing provider operating in single family homes throughout Boulder County.

Our mission is to provide safe and affordable housing to individuals and families who are looking for a fresh start.  We've been called "conscious housing" becuase of our clear intention to help people stay sober. We offer a range of options, from shared living spaces to private rooms.  Our social service partners provide funding, services and supervision.

 

All of our homes are alcohol and drug free. We strive to create an environment of support and understanding, where people can make meaningful connections, get support and build community. We are here to provide a safe and secure place for you to call home.

Shiela's Sanctuary is a registered 501(c)(3).  We offer housing to men and women in recovery from substance use disorder, the justice-involved, veterans and kids aging out of foster care. We also have a special place for those who are fleeing from domestic violence or human trafficking aka "The Life". We know that being connected to a caring community is essential and all of our homes offer Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT). In addition, we have house rules that include The Seven Sanctuary Commitments. The 7 commitments that are practiced include: Nonviolence, Emotional Intelligence, Social Learning, Communication, Democracy, Social Responsibility, Growth and Change.

 

By placing people in a family like environment, they build a community in their house and have much higher success at leading an independent and healthy life. Often for the first time ever, there is stability. The result is a paradigm shift that changes the trajectory of an individual's life story.
